Are you a 'boy racer' and live for the moment or is your attitude that of Christ Jesus who made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant. Phil 2:1-11

Last night I had a couple of dreams and in these I saw people having fun in the spiritual realm, playing if you like with the things of the spirit.  And other people were buying gifts for people or helping people.  There were almost two camps of people, those who were having fun in the spirit, but it was all about them and short lived fun, while the other people were investing in and helping other people.

One of these dreams I saw like young boys, boy racers really coming up the hill but racing in their cars and zooming around some who were already there, but then racing off the other side and then I saw three of them walking back with their right arm cut off and now just limbs.  The others in the car never came back, they had taken off in a different direction to get away from the authorities because of the mess they had caused.

When pondering this I really felt that God was saying that people are going to rise quickly in the things of the spirit, but like that of boy racers, think they own the world and are invincible and in the process will cause accidents.  Some will return for help but will have lost their strength, spiritual power in the Lord, and others will fall away.   As I thought about why they didn't stay up on the top of the mountain I remembered I saw the timing on a clock of 7:18.  Now I don't know what that means exactly but part of it means judgement and part of it means trying to jump ahead of the timing of God.  This is often something that happens, especially with the youth.  In their excitement and fun of things they often don't see the long term picture, rather they live for the moment, but God has more for them and those around them than the moment they are in right now.

There was a difference in these dreams with different people, as I said earlier one was about helping others and the other was all about self.  Phil 2:21 says "For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ."

When I was sharing these dreams this morning with Jim he got the scripture in Phillipans 2:5 which says "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant."  As I looked at these verses the ones above really stood out as well and sums up I think what the Lord was saying to me...  2:1-5  If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.  Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.  Each of you should look not only to your own interest, but also to the interest of others.

To follow Christ is to follow his example of how he walked.  It's to love others,  to understand who you are in him but not to abuse the power & authority you have in him.  He knew what power he had in his hand, yet he did not use it for his own glory or exaltation, but for the good of others.  I believe there is a warning here for all of us as we grow in the things of the spirit.  We are going to experience things we have not experienced before, its going to be fun and exciting, and we are going to understand a little of the power we have in our hand through Jesus, but be careful that you don't jump ahead of what God has for you thinking you have it all, that you take the time to learn and grow in the things of God which actually lead you to more than you think.   We get a taste of Kingdom power and think that is it, but something I am learning is that if I wait in the patience with God and allow him to teach and guide me at the pace he has for me and allow him to show me the hidden things in my life that need adjusting, then he has bigger things than my mind had originally comprehended - and its never just about me.  The more the Lord has taught me to wait and grow in the things of the spirit, the more I realise how much more people could have been hurt along the way through my misuse or misunderstanding of what the Lord had given me.  Not only other people but myself included because how I do I handle the persecution when it comes?  Will I stand up under it or will I lose some of my strength in the Lord through it?

I believe we are coming into a time where we will see the 'power of God' manifested through us but we need to know how to handle that power.  Will we keep the spirit of God of humility and servanthood and allow God to grow us and change us so we become people of strength in him that can help many people, or will we use it for our own desires?

Obedience and Commitment are big things in Gods Kingdom

Reading in Acts 7 this morning the story through Stephen of Abraham being told by God to " Leave your country and your people and go the the land I will show you"   So he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. After the death of his father, God sent him to this land where you are now living.  He gave him no inheritance here, not even a foot of ground.  But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child." As I reflected on this and the journey of Abraham stepping out in faith into a land that he received no inheritance in but a promise of what was to come for his descendants of which we live in the fruit of that, I thought of todays generations in which often is only doing things that we want to do or that will benefit us personally as we live for 'today' not worrying about tomorrow.  A sense of if it feels good then do it, if it doesn't then we will move on -  perhap...
I shared last night about 1 Cor 15:36 "What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body..." I was preaching on it last night and it will come up in video form later in the week on the GRM sight, mainly reflecting on we can sow things one way, but God raises it up as HE determines how it should look. But this morning I got more revelation which will be quite obvious to some, but to me it struck me afresh. When we sow something it get's buried, it cannot be pulled back up. It no longer has 'connection' with 'me' if you like. It gets 'covered over' unable to be pulled up. And yet I recognise in my own life how we can sow something but there are still 'strings attached' as such as we often are still determining or expecting it be rai...

Arise & Shine, let your voice be heard

To speak or not to speak – this is the question? Or perhaps it should be ‘how to speak?’ We live in a world where the rights of man are rising, the voices of differences of opinion are growing stronger and louder.   The justice of the world, right and wrong as seen through our own eyes, starting to arise.  I n this nation of NZ where "tall poppy syndrome' has been an issue as the accepted norm of the past, people are breaking out, rising up and learning to use their voice.   As rightly we ought as Christians.  All good things to happen, all needed to happen.   For the bride to stand, awaken and arise and to shine for righteousness and justice.    To stand up for the poor and needy, to speak on behalf of those who can't. With anything new, you have the swings in the spectrums as we all learn how to walk in a new way.   We say things more strongly than we ought, or perhaps we say things weaker where watering it down and don’t come across to effe...

Things to ponder from the book of Luke

Some powerful stuff out of the book of Luke this morning that spoke to me  17:10 " So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty'"  This really spoke to me how we expect and want the praise from man for what we do and yet we have only done what we were asked to do when we freely gave ourselves as bondslaves/servants to christ so why should we expect praise from man or from God? The other thing - actually there was heaps this morning out of Luke so take a look, but 18:8 "However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"  The one question about will Jesus find people of faith who believe in what they have not yet seen?  It is only faith that pleases God and so to be a people of faith.... A challenge. One more thing that I have to share is Luke19:11-27 the parable of the Ten Minas and about being faithful with what you have, but v24 "Then he said...

The baby's been handed over

Several weeks ago the Lord shifted us out of the 'home office' into the 'market place' and in the process a spiritual shift happened - one of letting the 'baby' go, a releasing and handing over the batten, so to speak to others. In this process the nests that WE ALL have been in have been stirred up, shaken about, and pushed out, to fly in ways that perhaps we were too afraid to do previously. The amazing thing with God is that He knows the timing of all of this and where each one of us is at and what we can handle.  Yes there has been a fluttering of wings in panic.  Yes, we have had a few weeks of challenge as authority and structures get changed and challenged, frustrations coming to the fore, but love helps us overcome,  love helps us to forgive,  love helps us to see the good and not the dirt, love helps us remember our own failings and yet forgiveness and grace that the Lord has for me, that I can give to others, remembering it's the glory of G...

What do Kingdom finances look like?

I was asked by someone the other day what Kingdom finances looked like and I realised that this is an area that needs some discussion. This is my opinion of what Kingdom finances look like according to what the Lord has taught me over the years and to scriptures I have been shown, but I am not the be all and end all to thinking, so it is something you might want to check out for yourselves. The way of the world is to store up riches, to save for a rainy day, to have enough to protect themselves should something happen, that I have earned this and it is mine and therefore I can do what I want with it. The way of the Kingdom is a way of giving to the poor, giving to God's people in need and practicing hospitality, of not worrying about tomorrow, of trusting God for the future and His provision in that time of need when it arises, of everything is His (God's). I believe that if you see a need in front of you and you have something in which can help with that need, whatever it is,...
