Distraction or Traction?

Our most value asset is: TIME

I don't know about you but I find it is easy to get distracted and drawn away from what I was intending to do or where my focus needed to be.

I often find myself getting 'entangled in civilian affairs' as it says in the scripture above. But the discernment is knowing if that is God's interruption for the day or a distraction that takes me away from the purpose and plan that God would have me walk in.

I think we can often miss those God opportunities and God calls on our life because of distractions.

"A distraction is something we do that moves us away from what we really want."

Distractions bring confusion, feeling like you are in a muddle, not knowing where you are going, often feeling like you are busy but probably not really achieving a great deal.

The opposite of distraction is TRACTION.

Traction is an action that moves us toward what we really want. Momentum and movement toward the desires of the heart. But often we don't find ourselves with that traction because we don't know where we are going or what we are doing.

If we don't have a vision, something that we are aiming for, whether it's going to the gym, whether it's something in business, whatever it is, then it is very difficult to be purposed or intention.

What is it that God has called you to do?

What is it that is stopping you from fulfilling that call? Is there a way that things can change so you can step into the vision?

Perhaps you have lost sight of the vision?

Often we just need to decide to 'be intentional' in cutting off the distractions and closing the door to them however that may look and decide to step into without fear what it is on our heart to achieve trusting that as we step in, God will help us to overcome whatever roadbumps may be in the way.

Recently we have been pondering how to deal with situations in our family that don't line up with the word. What action do we need to take? Are we being too harsh? Do we accept the behaviour or be considered by those around us as "too radical" or "too black and white"? "Where is grace in all of this? How do we love the sinner but hate the sin? What about forgiveness? What is the role of discipline? What makes that sin any worse than lying? What is true love? And there are a lot more questions going through the mind in how to work through this and know God's will and desire for the situation and the person. And firstly to say we have not come to any conclusions and are growing and learning day by day in this but I want to throw it out there. "I am ruined for the ordinary"

“I am ruined for the ordinary” A statement that can possibly be to some, come from a place of judgement, or it can be from a place of there is more in the Kingdom of God that I am yet to experience or understand, revelation that I have tasted of something that actually shows me that I have not tasted of anything yet. A place where there is such a contentment and joy in what I have seen and longed to see and yet a revelation that there is way more "beyond what I think, ask and imagine" (Eph 3:20) and one that spurs me on to seek and discover all the fullness that could be ours in the Kingdom of God. Francistown, Maun & then?????

Prov 11:25 "A generous man will prosper , he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed." Well we are now in Maun after a very exciting meeting in Francistown where the joy of the Lord was released and people set free. It was so much fun seeing the tears rolling and then the joy coming. Now in Maun after another 6 hour bus journey. We have already done one meeting last night after arriving and have another three lined up until Sunday evening and now also a meeting for the leadership again tomorrow morning. So we need refreshing but the Lord is refreshing us and giving us what we need. Interesting what we are learning in the spirit and the strongholds over peoples lives and asking the Lord for breakthrough in their situations. Some places no problem but other places its is really hard ground that is needing breakthrough. We would ask you to pray for keys to see the breakthrough come in this place. What do Kingdom finances look like?

I was asked by someone the other day what Kingdom finances looked like and I realised that this is an area that needs some discussion. This is my opinion of what Kingdom finances look like according to what the Lord has taught me over the years and to scriptures I have been shown, but I am not the be all and end all to thinking, so it is something you might want to check out for yourselves. The way of the world is to store up riches, to save for a rainy day, to have enough to protect themselves should something happen, that I have earned this and it is mine and therefore I can do what I want with it. The way of the Kingdom is a way of giving to the poor, giving to God's people in need and practicing hospitality, of not worrying about tomorrow, of trusting God for the future and His provision in that time of need when it arises, of everything is His (God's). The Dinah Sheets need changing.

Have you ever gone into a Hotel Room and smelling the smell of fresh clean sheets and a bed beautifully made? Or even hoping into your own bed after you have changed the sheets and have beautiful fresh pillowcases? Well this morning in a vision I saw a Hotel Room and the word that came from the Lord was - "The Dinah Sheets need changing" and knowing there was blood on the sheets and calling for a Hotel porter to come and bring new sheets. Dinah was Jacobs daughter and her story is told in Genesis 34. She was a virgin, pure, but then Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, took her and violated her. I encourage you to read the whole story and to see what takes place in retribution for her defilement. Kiwi Culture verses Kingdom Culture

The above is the title of a book that I have on my heart. Whether or not it ever makes it there we will see but in the process I want to put some thoughts down and see what it opens up. I grew up with phrases like "God helps those who help themselves" or "Too spiritually minded to be any earthly good". There are many many more that I am sure you know of - I would love to hear them so please blog me about them or Facebook me so I can add them. But phrases like that that we grew up with that actually have become a part of world view and things we base our lives on. Things of our culture that are so much a part of culture that we think is actually a part of the bible or at the very least is no big deal in God's eyes; like sarcasm. I have had to question some of these phrases - "where does it say in the bible God helps those who help themselves?"
