Encouragement through the trial

Reading Hebrews 11 verse 24 jumped out at me this morning. "By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward." And as I read this I thought of 2 Cor 4:17 "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glor y that far outweighs them all." Moses had everything at his feet, wealth, popularity, etc, yet he gave it all up and walked the path of God.  Imagine how hard that must have been choosing rather to suffer affliction at the hand of his own family. I have had several dreams lately of people coming under persecution and being killed for their faith, some walking away from their faith. One this morning was where a group of people were walking this path and all these rocks were falling down aroun...

Use what is in your hand - Enter into the joy of the Lord!

Just reading through the Parable of the Talents (Matt 25:14) and what struck me was as they gave away what they had, the word was "Enter into the joy of your Lord" V21 & 22 As we give away and use for His glory what He has already firstly given us, a) He will make you ruler over many things, and b) You will enter into the joy of the Lord. Last Sunday night in church one lady came up to me and had gold dust in her hands, she was so excited but I held out my hands and said to  her to put them in my hands, not because I wanted it, but to demonstrate this very principal, that if she gave it away she would get more. She was a little hesitant as she wanted to keep it and was afraid but as she stepped out in faith and put it in my hands, not only did I receive some, but she then immediately got more in her hands! Principal put to the test that straight away proved true. If we use and give away what is in our hands we will receive more. V16 of the Parable of the Talents says ...

Ponderings today 16 Dec

Whilst we may not agree with everything that is preached from the pulpit, there is always something that we can learn either about the Lord or about ourselves and our responses to it. Lets not be a people to whom are easily offended and move on without learning what it is that the Lord would have us learn in the different situations.  I read a wonderful scripture this morning that really encouraged me as one who often feels arrows in the back in the spirit from peoples jud gements towards me, which God really spoke to me about and hope that it would encourage you too if you feel this way. As it is not us who receive the arrows from people but the Lord (v4) But also reminds me not to be a person that speaks about others behind their back as words are powerful and the tongue either brings life or death. And it is so easily done without often thinking about it. And as easily as I feel arrows, others would feel arrows from me.  Lord forgive us our sin as we forgive others theirs. ...

Wise men come bearing gifts for Jesus.

Thought this morning - "the three wise men came bearing gifts for Jesus", expensive gifts. Thought .... they were wise men    What is it to be wise.... The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom according to Proverbs. The expensive gifts they brought were because they recognised a King and you never enter a Kings presence without an offering and yet today we become so 'familiar' with our King that we don't even give Him the honour He is due and we can easily take for g ranted what He has given us. The reason why we have offerings in church???? perhaps a continual reminder for us who our Lord and Saviour is and the honour He is due??  Prov 3:9 "Honour the Lord with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase, So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine." If you enter a Kings presence with the best you have to give, will not that King give you favour and honour because you have given H...

Is there a mess at your place?

I just want to encourage those of you who are feeling like there is too much stuff going on that you can't see a way through, that you will get there and that it will be worth it in the end! Jim and I have this last weekend had someone move into our back part of our house. In the process we needed to move out of there and shift all the stuff up into the front part. In the process I started on cleaning up loads of other cupboards that needed cleaning up. A 'decluttering' started to happen but as the 'spring cleaning' some would call it, started to happen, actually it became a huge overall and a mass throwout, there became mess everywhere. And in fact we are still in it. And I feel like there are some out there who feel like this, that their lives are just a mess. But like any spring cleaning, it always looks worse before it gets better - well in our house anyway. It is a work in progress and I know we will come through it. But in the proce ss things have to get shift...

Do you feel stuck with no way out of your current situation?

Last night I had this dream and in this dream I went into an open home to have a look at a house but while I was there I saw all these people that were part of this building complex that had been 'taken in' by the goodness of how the building complex sounded and had spent their life savings and bought in this complex.  I saw some people that I knew previously from another place where the Spirit of the Lord had touched them powerfully, but now they had invested everything they had into this building complex and couldn't get out of it but when they saw me, how pleased they were to see me.  As I looked around their hearts were stuck as there was no way out for them, a hopelessness as they realised what they had done and the truth in which they now saw.  And as I looked over the walls into the building complex I saw like a chinese school like building but it was a stadium, all very uniform, the discipline hard, the worship of one man who was a statue on their desk, it was lik...

Don't worry, you wont miss the bus.

Last night I had this dream and there were a bunch of people at my house and we all decided to go somewhere by bus.  Because we had to lock up the house, Jim and I missed the bus, while the others managed to make it.  I found myself getting a little frustrated with Jim as he seemed to be so slow in locking everything up.  Jim & I got there just in time to see their bus drive away.  We were left standing in the rain.  But then the thinking came, its alright, we will just catch the next bus. Some of us may feel at times like we have missed our opportunity.  That we have missed what The Lord would have us do, and in that we can get a little frustrated by people around us and even perhaps blame people for where things are at, at least I know I do at times. :)  But I believe The Lord wants to encourage people today, including myself, that you don't need to worry, just rest and be at peace and  you will soon get another opportunity.  Like wa...

Do you feel like you are under fire at the moment?

For the past several weeks there seems to be some real challenges and trials going on in peoples lives including our own.  But I want to encourage you that it is all for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose (Rom 8). Last night I was asking the Lord about some things that were going on with us and with those around us, and why it was happening.  During the night, Luke 4 came to my heart.  So this morning I looked it up and it is the story of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness by the devil.  And as I read it I thought too of the scripture in 1 Peter 4:12 "Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering as though something strange were happening to you.  But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ so that you may overjoyed when his glory is revealed. " Just like Jesus, our hearts are tested.  Prov 17:3 "The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the hea...

What do Kingdom finances look like?

I was asked by someone the other day what Kingdom finances looked like and I realised that this is an area that needs some discussion. This is my opinion of what Kingdom finances look like according to what the Lord has taught me over the years and to scriptures I have been shown, but I am not the be all and end all to thinking, so it is something you might want to check out for yourselves. The way of the world is to store up riches, to save for a rainy day, to have enough to protect themselves should something happen, that I have earned this and it is mine and therefore I can do what I want with it. The way of the Kingdom is a way of giving to the poor, giving to God's people in need and practicing hospitality, of not worrying about tomorrow, of trusting God for the future and His provision in that time of need when it arises, of everything is His (God's). I believe that if you see a need in front of you and you have something in which can help with that need, whatever it is,...

Person wanted

I am needing a personal assistant to help me one day a week who believes in the vision for revival in this nation and in me and the call of God on our lives and is willing to sew into it with their time and finances as it would involve travel out to our place and it would be unpaid at this stage. If this sounds like you then give us a call, I would love to hear from you, phone 8389009, or 02102651601

Do you feel like you are being tossed around in the wind?

I believe there are some out there who feel like they are being tossed about from one thing to the other, not sure where they are heading or what they are believing for and this is a time when you just want to give up and walk away from the promises God has put inside of you.  I want to encourage you to keep going and as it says in James 1:2  " Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."  I know that sometimes you don't consider it all joy when you go through trials but believe me, it develops things in you that you will be grateful for if you don't give up and you will see fruit in your life and those around you should you learn to walk in patience and perseverance.   These are times you don't want to be a lone sheep but instead get yourself around people of faith ...

Do you want to walk in signs, wonders and miracles?

People say to me that they want to walk in signs wonders and miracles and yet..... the cost it takes to do that they are sometimes not willing to pay - yet   Because the reward far outweighs any cost that might come. And I pray that people get a revelation from God of the joy set before them through Jesus! The cost of perhaps walking away from friends that don't believe what you believe or wan t, the cost perhaps of family who reject you because you are radical and taking your faith too far - in their eyes at least, the cost perhaps of leaving houses, fields etc, the cost perhaps of going to a friend and apologising for your behaviour, as you obey what it is the Lord puts on your heart to do and you may need to surrender these. Yes salvation is free through Jesus, but to walk in the anointing of God where you see captives set free around you, where you see the sick healed, where you see lives changed before your eyes, costs you to believe in what Jesus has done and can do, thr...

Continuing on in Luke - Chapter 22:40 "Pray that you will not fall into temptation"

A couple of things that struck me this morning from Luke. Jesus says to his disciples in 22:40 "Pray that you will not fall into temptation" ,  and then a few verses later while praying on the Mount of Olives Jesus, 'prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground'. (22:44)  His prayer was obviously quite intense and I thought how much of my prayer is so intense that my praying produces sweat?  But the prayer he said to the disciples was 'pray that you will not fall into temptation'.  And then again in verses 46 "Why are you sleeping?"  he asked them.  "Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation." This call to pray that we don't fall into temptation I believe is so needed.  It is when we pray that we realise the different areas that we have fallen into temptation in such seemingly little things, but over time they become big things.  We succumb to temptation in so many ways and somethi...

Things to ponder from the book of Luke

Some powerful stuff out of the book of Luke this morning that spoke to me  17:10 " So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty'"  This really spoke to me how we expect and want the praise from man for what we do and yet we have only done what we were asked to do when we freely gave ourselves as bondslaves/servants to christ so why should we expect praise from man or from God? The other thing - actually there was heaps this morning out of Luke so take a look, but 18:8 "However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"  The one question about will Jesus find people of faith who believe in what they have not yet seen?  It is only faith that pleases God and so to be a people of faith.... A challenge. One more thing that I have to share is Luke19:11-27 the parable of the Ten Minas and about being faithful with what you have, but v24 "Then he said...

Is the reality of your heart different to what people see?

I had this dream and in this dream I went to stay with some people but they had no room in the house for me so I stayed in my caravan. But as I went into their house, the kitchen was a disaster, it was full of rotting food so much so that there were maggots growing and moving, there was stuff everywhere.  The people in the house were off helping a handicapped person which was good, but the state of their kitchen was a disaster.  So even though I didn’t know where to begin in cleaning up I started to clean up as they needed a hand and as I started to clean up the people in the house came and helped and switched on the waste disposal unit and the kitchen began to take shape again. I believe this is a word for some of you.   Although you are helping others and doing good things, in the process, your own house, your own heart, is in a mess and you need others to come and help you get started.  The kitchen in dream language often means the hear...

"Put out into the deep water, and let down the nets for a catch"

We have been given a picture recently a couple of times and then again it came on Wednesday night another confirmation of basket loads of fish, a catch so huge.  This same Wednesday I had also read the scripture from Luke 5: 4-11 "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch".  Simon answered "Master we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything.   But because you say so, I will let down the nets."  When they had done so, they caught such a large humber of fish that their nets began to break.  So they signalled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. I believe there is a fresh call to put out your net, not only for Jim and I and for the ministry the Lord has given us, but also for each one of you.  You may have been fishing for a long time and felt like you had caught nothing, you may have been working hard day and night and feel tired and ready t...

Respect the culture of the house you enter.

When we were working in China, we learnt that we had to respect the culture of the house we entered otherwise we offended people. For example, if we entered a Tibetans home, we did not take off our shoes or the souls of our feet never pointed to people out of respect of the people as it would cause offence. But in a Ch inese or a Koreans home, we took off our shoes at the door. It took some adjusting but after time we got used to the different ways, and although initially we couldn't understand why this was so and often criticised the other culture from doing things different than our home, over the time we learnt why and understood the differences and learnt to appreciate them and love the people. This morning The Lord is showing me and I believe this is a word for the family of Christ, that when we willingly choose to enter another church then we need to respect the culture that is in that house and honour it. Although it may be different from my own, it is not my place to critic...

Do not fear - it will have the DNA of Jesus

Over the last two weeks I have noticed a shift and an expansion in the spirit of things about to be released, like the final stages of a lady pregnant about to give birth, when what has been inside, can no longer be contained and it has to come out. And in the process of this 'baby' needing to come out there has been this question, this fear, and even this 'holding in the baby' because of the uncertainty of what it will look like, that there will no longer be control and in that there is a fear of releasing it and letting it go. I share this because I believe there are many who are 'pregnant' with dreams, visions, hopes, plans, but because of the uncertainty of what it looks like there is a holding off, a waiting, a hesitation, possibly because in the past things have not turned out as expected, possibly because of hurts and fears of rejection, of what people will think etc.  for whatever reason.  But I want to encourage you today and something The Lord has...

Individuality verses family, pride verses serving.

This morning I had this dream and I want to share some parts of it as I feel it is important to address some of these issues that I saw happening in this dream. One part I saw a young man come into our home with his food, but someone was already preparing food for the family but this young man came in and brought his own food and cooked for himself.  And to me someone else was already cooking, but he just took over, and he was treating it like a flatting situation instead of a family situation where we all ate together around the table and had fellowship together.  As I went to talk to this young one who came in, he wouldn't listen that we wanted what he brought, but he just stormed out and wouldn't even listen or talk, taking friends with him. This I believe is quite significant at the moment as many of us come into the house and family of God but once in, see ourselves as individuals and do what we want instead of contributing to the whole and being a part of the whol...

Guest Ministry - Linda Hartzell from America

We are blessed to have join us on Wednesday the 25th at Puketaha Hall this amazing powerful woman of the Lord - Linda Hartzell - She  travels internationally as a missionary / evangelist and conference speaker.  She has ministered in over 45 nations of the world and has been in ministry for 30 years. I was honoured to be able hear her speak this last Sunday at Life Church and highly recommend her and the power she speaks confirming the season as to which we are in:  Come along - All welcome. 7pm A little about her:     " At the young age of 22 Linda's ministry was launched in the "heat" of the great Argentina Revival.  She has experienced and seen first hand the incredible impact that the power of God can have upon an entire nation, when God's eyes look upon that nation for revival.      Linda's message is prophetic in nature with insight and understanding of the times and a directional message of where God is takin...

Titus 3:9

Yesterday I was at something that was discussing the perceived lack of confidence in the local churches, it was really great, but one thing that stood out for me is as I pondered everything that was discussed was Tit 3:9 "But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about law because these are unprofitable and useless."  We can so get caught up discussing different  theological issues but forget the main thing and take our eyes of Jesus. In the book of Nehemiah they started to rebuild the wall and as they started to do the work God had called them to, the enemy tried to take away their focus and drag them away. So often that is the case when a work of God is happening the enemy wants to come and distract us with things that take away our focus. In the book of Joshua it says "do not turn to the left or to the right", why? Because our focus goes from where it should be. If we keep our eyes on Jesus then all the distractions will not be en...

Help me Pretty Lady, Help me

I woke up this morning to a cry: "Help me Pretty Lady, Help me". It wrecked my world, it broke my heart and so I am asking, Lord where did that cry come from but in the meantime I have a poem. We're making excuses for not arising and shining, We're making excuses for our churches dying, While there is a call from the lost that is crying, Help me Pretty Lady, Help me. We have the light that brings life, We have the hope to give, We have the love that is needed, Help me Pretty Lady, Help me. There are sheep without shepherds There are children crying and dying The desperate hopeless cry that is calling, Help me Pretty Lady, Help me.

"The water is rising like never seen before in the Waikato in May"

Yesterday afternoon these words ran before me; "The water is rising like never seen before in the Waikato in May". Then after that I had this vision where a fighter plane fell to pieces in front of me and crashed to the ground with parts going everywhere.  I saw the pilot fleeing for his life with two children and hiding underground for protection with other fighter planes that too were hidden.  It was a scary frantic time in the vision and I was having to avoid the damage from the plane and hide so as not to get hurt. For me, waters represent The Holy Spirit, the presence of God.   'May' can represent increase but it may also mean the time in which we see it happen.  From what I am seeing and believing for, I believe there is going to be an increase of the presence of God like never seen before, which is exciting but it will also bring a  challenge with it, as seen by my vision that followed the words. And in this time of testing I believe ministries/pe...

The lie of a lack of spiritual fathers and mothers

My ponderings this morning. I believe we have a generation (of which I am a part of) at the moment who believe that there were not the spiritual mothers and fathers who taught them in the things of the spirit; of the way they should go etc. I believe to some extent there is truth, we don’t seem to have seen the ‘spiritual hero’s’ that we  want to follow in our daily worlds around us. But I also believe that our generation or those who don’t believe there have been the spiritual parents, actually need to repent for not honouring the ones that the Lord has put in their lives and in which we have not received them as such and honoured what they inputted into our lives. There have always been people around us sowing into our lives, sowing truth, sowing help and hope, but because it has not come the way we expect it, we have not honoured what those people have brought. Sometimes too those people sow into our lives with truth that we don’t want to hear and so we walk away from those ...

Dirty cups and rocking houses.

The past few weeks have been a real challenge for me as The Lord has shown me different things and the challenge has come in how to share the things He has shown me. I have had several dreams.  One where I saw before we worshipped there were still dirty cups that needed cleaning out before we could worship.  As I went to wash these cups out, my Father and Mother gave me some ashtrays to take back with me to the meeting. Another picture I had was of a beautiful Christian family that I know and I was meeting them in their lounge and as we were talking their house started to sway and I saw their foundations were in sand. So firstly the one of the cups needing cleaning.  That talks about the inside of people needing to be cleaned out before they come to The Lord for worship.  I believe The Lord is trying to show us that coming to him 'dirty' is not what he wants.  For me that makes sense.  When you go to someone's house for a meal, you do not go in your d...

Eddie Cairns from Mission Outreach

Due to unforeseen circumstances our planned guest speaker for the 28th of August is no longer able to join us.  But in his place we are blessed and honoured to have Eddie Cairns, founder of Mission Outreach with a heart and call for the suffering church, joining us.  This will be a special time so please bring along your friends and honour a man of God that has served God now for many many years. We also have Nicky Moran leading us in worship. This Wednesday night 28th of August.  7pm at Puketaha Hall.

The Walls of our heart are being broken down.

Earlier last week I had this dream and in this dream my friend was crying and then I went outside and it was raining.  Then I found myself inside a room and there was this very tall man telling stuff in the middle of the walls to go and as it went there was this horrible noise that screamed as it went and then people's eyes were being opened and it was a time of rejoicing. For me I see this very much what I believe the Lord is doing, that the Lord is crying, is weeping for his people and he is sending the rain of revival and speaking to the walls in peoples hearts that have held them captive for so long, the walls of regret, walls of disappointment, of failure, of hurt and rejection, of things that have been lost or stolen such as dreams and visions that yet have not come to pass, that has caused a wall to go up in peoples hearts that actually hinder hope and faith being fully released.  For whatever reason that people have put walls up to protect themselves and the Lord is ...

Advance and Expansion are the words

There is certainly a massive shift happening at the moment in God's Kingdom, rule and reign being released here on the earth.  We have been in such transition and repositioning in the body of Christ for such a long time it seems but people are coming into their places, into their positions, the call for advance has been sounded and taking hold of those places that had long been held by the enemy are now ours for the taking.  Expansion is the word so be prepared for the unexpected, the miraculous, the provision, the joy, the authority to rise up and declare the word and works of the Lord in ways that will astound you.  Those things that you have been sowing into for years faithfully honouring the Lord are I believe about to be released in ways that will blow your mind, that will excite you, that will remind you who our God is, the maker of the heavens and the earth and all things are under His authority.

Guest Ministry

Wednesday the 14th of August at Puketaha Hall at 7pm we have a guest ministry coming and all are invited to come along and hear these special people. Because of security I am not telling you his name but He is from China where he has served 23 years in a labour camp because he would not denouce his leader who was a contemporary of Watchmen Nee.  He is still active in diciplining and mentoring the leadership of the underground church.  He is joined with another person who has planted a chinese church in in Laos and now working with church plants. There will be a love offering taken so please come prepared. We also have Nicky Moran joining us in leading worship. So should be a great night to come along and fellowship together and see what the Lord would say to you. Bring others along and if able bring some supper to share. Look forward seeing you there.

What do you do when you feel used?

The other night I had this picture where I had given a friend my beautiful guitar (which recently I have in the natural) and they took it and then you go to see them and they wont come out and see you but they give you the old worn out dusty guitar case back but through their daughter? To me this was a picture that I had given my best to someone and they turned around and gave me the rubbish back and not through them but through someone else.  This has happened many times to me where I have given my heart and then I hear through someone else something from that person but that person never talks to me. What do we do with this when it happens to you?  Where you feel used, where you have given everything and then got nothing in return or if you have it has been rubbish? It is a very painful process and too often when that happens we shut ourselves up and protect our heart in the future so we don't get used or hurt again.  This is our natural response to this sort of p...

Who changed my soup?

Has anyone ever read the book "Who moved my cheese?"  If not, a really good little book to read that will challenge the way you think when things shift and the decisions we make when a shift occurs.  While this blog is a little like that book except it is "Who changed my soup?" I had a dream last night and in this dream I saw four churches in a fun competition with each other making dishes of food for eating.  I was making a big pot of soup but I had forgotten to put the salt in.  The competition thinking I would have put salt in already added a whole another cup of salt to our soup behind our backs.  When we had realised we had to adjust our soup and add things because it was way too salty.  We had to add food that we would not have naturally added and we had no idea what it would turn out like.  We were having to create something that was out of the ordinary.  But because they had done that, we had ended up making something very creative and t...

Run in such a way as to win the prize. 1 Cor 9:24-27

A couple of nights ago had a dream and in this dream I saw myself running on the road and going around the block and looking at houses, some of them old and run down.  Then the second time I went out I saw myself running down the road again and I saw some christian friends that I know gathered in a party type gathering, and I found myself crossing over the street moving on from the party and I continued down the road with a sense of not wanting to go back. Several things spoke to me in this dream. One; that I was looking at old and run down houses as I ran. Two; that the second time I went out I crossed the road from my friends who were gathered and continued on running. Firstly just like our physical houses, we don't let them get rundown and if we have maintenance to do, we get on to it before it becomes too big and it is costly to maintain and keep a house in good repair but we do it because it is necessary. So too our spiritual houses, we need to look after our spirit, we ...
