It's time to throw out the rotten eggs.

The other day I had a picture of old rotten eggs being thrown out.  In order for being positioned for expansion we sometimes need to throw out the old ideas and thinking in order for the new to come.  Eggs can represent ideas.  We have had many ideas about the ministry and how we can see it happening but what the Lord was saying to me this morning is in order for the new to come, for the expansion to come, the old ideas of how the ministry could happen or what it would look like need to be thrown out so that the new can come.  We need to check those eggs, are they rotten and needing to be thrown out, or are some of those eggs (ideas) that we have still alright for the season we are in?

Often we get a vision or a dream or an idea of how things can be and they were good for that time, but the time moves on and we have to move with the times and the time for those things that was there has now come and gone.  Whether or not they happened is irrelevant now because it is a new day, the old has past and the new has come.  We cannot be held up because of the ‘what if’s’ in life, or the ‘if only’s’ because it is past.  We need to move into the future asking the Lord to direct our steps.  There may be an asking of forgiveness from the Lord as to why we didn’t do those things that we believed were from him.  When we do that we realize the areas in our hearts that we didn’t believe Him for, or fear of failure or need of approval from man, whatever the reason, but then to learn from that and receive that forgiveness and move forward into the hope and future he has for us and those around us.

Isaiah 54:2-5  “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.  For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.  Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame.  Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.  You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.  For your Maker is your husband – the Lord Almighty is his name – the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.”

We are in a time of enlargement as a people of God I believe and like any family in which a new baby is about to come on the scene we need to make room to accommodate it.  And so in a home rooms get shifted around, sorted out, the old thrown out and perhaps a garage sale happens and new furniture, like a cot comes in for the new baby.  What are the things in your household that need rearranging in order to accommodate the new things that the Lord wants to do?
What are those things we need to throw out, a time of spring cleaning :)

With Love, Sarah

"A man's enemies will be the members of his own household" Matt 10:36

Recently we have been pondering how to deal with situations in our family that don't line up with the word. What action do we need to take?  Are we being too harsh?  Do we accept the behaviour or be considered by those around us as "too radical" or "too black and white"?  "Where is grace in all of this? How do we love the sinner but hate the sin?  What about forgiveness?  What is the role of discipline?   What makes that sin any worse than lying?  What is true love?  And there are a lot more questions going through the mind in how to work through this and know God's will and desire for the situation and the person. And firstly to say we have not come to any conclusions and are growing and learning day by day in this but I want to throw it out there. In Matt 10:34-39 says "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth.  I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.  For I have come to turn "a man against his father, ...

"I am ruined for the ordinary"

“I am ruined for the ordinary” A statement that can possibly be to some, come from a place of judgement, or it can be from a place of there is more in the Kingdom of God that I am yet to experience or understand, revelation that I have tasted of something that actually shows me that I have not tasted of anything yet.  A place where there is such a contentment and joy in what I have seen and longed to see and yet a revelation that there is way more "beyond what I think, ask and imagine" (Eph 3:20) and one that spurs me on to seek and discover all the fullness that could be ours in the Kingdom of God. When we as Christians see other Christians going places or experiencing things that we don’t understand or perhaps we have not yet moved in, we can either become jealous of that person and judge and bring them down to our level, exclude them from our lives or we can choose to be excited by what is happening and be encouraged and spurred on in the Lord for the more than ca...

Obedience and Commitment are big things in Gods Kingdom

Reading in Acts 7 this morning the story through Stephen of Abraham being told by God to " Leave your country and your people and go the the land I will show you"   So he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. After the death of his father, God sent him to this land where you are now living.  He gave him no inheritance here, not even a foot of ground.  But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child." As I reflected on this and the journey of Abraham stepping out in faith into a land that he received no inheritance in but a promise of what was to come for his descendants of which we live in the fruit of that, I thought of todays generations in which often is only doing things that we want to do or that will benefit us personally as we live for 'today' not worrying about tomorrow.  A sense of if it feels good then do it, if it doesn't then we will move on -  perhap...

Hesitation often causes accidents

The other day Jim was driving the car and began crossing an intersection then decided he couldn't do it as a car was coming toward him and so he backed back, unfortunately touching the car's number plate behind him as he too had moved forward. Many of us are stepping out and believe God has spoken, but when things start to come toward us decide to step back into what we think is the place of safety, but in so doing find things have changed and we cannot go back to the place we once were. Fear often causes us to go back instead of forward and for me in the past when we have stepped up into the new things that we believe the Lord has said, often something will come that will try to intimidate us, make us think we have made the wrong decision, that encourage us to go back the way we were going, but in the Lord we keep going from glory to glory, advancing and not retreating. It's in the hesitation that those around us may get hurt. Often when we are unsure of the way for...

The rats where running....

Last night I saw this picture where we went into this room to collect stuff with lots of other people and all these rats ran away as we came in and the stuff in the room was just all bits of rubbish now and the word that came to me was Matt 6:19 "Don't store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." It is so easy to think you are storing up treasure in heaven but the reality is that if you are wanting praise from man in any way then you are actually receiving your inheritance now. When you work for the Lord the things done in secret I believe, is what is stored up in heavenly places awaiting a time of release and when that release comes is unto the Lord, it may be on the earth while you are alive but it may also be later....

"And this is love; that we walk in obedience to his commands."

Why do we do what we do? 2 John 6  “And this is love; that we walk in obedience to his commands.” 1 John 5:3  “This is love for God, to obey his commands.  And his commands are not burdensome for everyone born of God overcomes the world. Jim and I have travelled down to Christchurch area for a time, why?  Because the Lord was directing our feet in this direction.  End of story.  But why?  What has He got for us here?  What are we ‘doing’ here?  Why spend the money to come down here when we don’t see the finances coming in that will be needed to cover the trip?  All sorts of questions arise as we step out in faith but end up not being able to answer all the questions that arise from various directions, various people in their hearts and our own, and yet we come and we come simply in obedience not knowing the outcome but knowing who our Lord is and that He has good plans for us. Recently the Lord gave me a dream and it led...
