Dealing with a poverty mindset

This morning I had a dream and what the Lord was saying is that there was a 'begging' mentality happening and instead of believing God would give everything we needed and responding and walking in the authority that He has given each one of us. That He is our daily bread, our daily provision. Instead many of us are like a people begging going around asking for the little scraps that people or God would give. Whatever it is you need today - God is able, in fact more that able to do exceedingly more than you think of, ask or imagine.
So I pray for you that every poverty mindset that limits who God is in and through you today would be broken in the name and blood of Jesus and that you would walk in the abundance of all that God has for you and those around you. Many blessings - Sarah.

If you recognize any of these seven signs in your life, you may have a poverty mentality that God wants to heal you from: This list comes from Kris Vollotton
1. You require your close friends to have an exclusive relationship with you. You get jealous when they have a relationship with anyone else. Why? You fear they will like them instead of you.
2. You assign negative motives to people who are prosperous, famous or powerful. Why? You probably are jealous of them, so you reduce them in your mind by building a case against them.
3. You are jealous of people who have more than you have. Why? You don't understand that in God's world there is always more than enough. Therefore, somebody else's prosperity doesn't reduce God's ability to prosper you!
4. You find a problem with every opportunity and are terrified of taking risks. Why? You don't know that God wants to bless you, or you don't feel worthy of His abundance.
5. You always feel like something is about to go wrong. In fact, when you are having a good day, you feel like a bad day is coming. Why? You have probably invited a foreboding spirit into your life. Foreboding means an impending sense of doom.
6. You live in shame. Guilt says I did something wrong, but shame says I am something wrong. Why? You don't love yourself and you don't understand the love of the Father!
7. You feel like a powerless victim. Life feels like it is happening to you. You often imagine yourself as a child in a grown-up world. Why? You aren't convinced of your nobility. You haven't come to grips with the fact that you are more than a conqueror!

In looking at how to overcome this take a look at the many resources on line.

Psalm 66

Often we blame the devil or other people for our situations and circumstances but in Psalm 66 it tells a different story.
v10  For you, God, tested us;
you refined us like silver.
You brought us into prison
and laid burdens on our backs.
You let people ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water,
but you brought us to a place of abundance.

Often the Lord allows us to go through things so that our trust is not in man but in God.
When things happen we often find ourselves blaming others or God for our situations but in the Lord he turns everything for good, if we allow him too, he brings us into a spacious place.

v16  Come and hear, all you who fear God;
let me tell you what he has done for me.
I cried out to him with my mouth;
his praise was on my tongue.
If I had cherished sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened;
but God has surely listened
and has heard my prayer.
Praise be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld his love from me!

God hears our prayers even when we don't think he has and sometimes His love is withholding the very thing we are asking for as we may not be able to handle it at this stage if we received it.  Often times there are things He is wanting to teach us about His love, about depths of his love that we have no idea about.  He is wanting to show and teach us greater revelations of His goodness towards us but at the time we sometimes feel that His love is not there - it is.

Psalm 67
May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face shine on us
so that your ways may be known on earth,
your salvation among all nations.

May all the peoples praise you, God
may all the peoples praise you.

The baby's been handed over

Several weeks ago the Lord shifted us out of the 'home office' into the 'market place' and in the process a spiritual shift happened - one of letting the 'baby' go, a releasing and handing over the batten, so to speak to others.

In this process the nests that WE ALL have been in have been stirred up, shaken about, and pushed out, to fly in ways that perhaps we were too afraid to do previously.
The amazing thing with God is that He knows the timing of all of this and where each one of us is at and what we can handle.  Yes there has been a fluttering of wings in panic.  Yes, we have had a few weeks of challenge as authority and structures get changed and challenged, frustrations coming to the fore, but
love helps us overcome,
love helps us to forgive,
love helps us to see the good and not the dirt, love helps us remember our own failings and yet forgiveness and grace that the Lord has for me, that I can give to others, remembering it's the glory of God to overlook offences.

It is an exciting time as we look forward to what is to come.  Not necessarily the current place of change we are in, but the place as we learn to walk in this new season and all that the Lord has for each one of us.

So lets not forget to give thanks, amidst the challenges.  I see the Lords hand in all of this, pushing us all into a new place but in this process lets pray for one another and cover each other in our weaknesses and have each others back.  We love and appreciate each one of you.  You are amazing and we are thankful that the Lord has put you all alongside us.

With love - Sarah and Jim

Change is coming and it will happen quickly

March 17 2018 had a headline that I posted on Facebook, it read:
"Change is coming and it will happen quickly" and I said that was a prophetic headline if ever I saw it.  Unbeknown the change that was about to come for Glory Release Ministries, Jim and myself.

Psalm 16 :11
"You make known the path of life
you will fill me with joy in your presence
with eternal pleasures at your right hand."

What an interesting two weeks - two weeks of provision, of open doors, of favour, of stepping over the chicken line, of leaning on what we have seen and heard by faith, of moving with the wind of the spirit.  And yet its been years of waiting, and like the movie "I can only Imagine"  what was written in ten minutes that became a song, was a lifetime in the making.  For Jim and I - the things that we have seen start to begin to happen is a lifetime of learning, growing, waiting, trusting, believing, stepping in by faith and also things sometimes seem to suddenly happen but there is a backdrop to the movie that is unfolding before you.

Just to note:
  • It's the end of the financial year March 31    (New Financial Year)
  • It's Easter weekend     (Death and resurrection)
  • It's End of Daylight savings    (time is changing)
  • It's the end of GRM being based of home ministry into the public beginnings of the Glory Release Resource Centre into the wider community.

Gods timing - Gods perfect plan as we walk with him and trust in him and wait for him which really in essence is waiting for us to be who we are called to be and to walk as he created us to be.

Yesterday as we were praying the Lord reminded me that I would not necessarily know the steps before me until I need to know.  We as a people and body of Christ are not called to worry about tomorrow and yet so often we are making plans and trying to make them happen and yet tomorrow could change everything.  We make plans and say "If it is the Lords will, we will do this or that".  So we learn to let go when the winds of the spirit change. When the cloud is moving, we move with it.

And so suddenly at this stage we have a new step - for now.

The offices, training and equipping, will from the 3rd of April be running out of 16 Greenwood Street, Hamilton.

This is we believe a temporary relocation for however long the Lord would have this door open before he opens the next door because the Lord keeps saying it will grow and we will need bigger premises.  But in the meantime we are blessed with this provision which in itself is a miracle.  There are so many spiritual and practical shifts in this change, a time of growing and stretching in a new way, challenges we have never needed to face before now so many new things to learn, to believe by faith for.

So on a practical note: we need office furniture, chairs, tables, office room dividers etc etc.  So if you have anything like this hanging around and you would like to donate/lend to GRM we would love to chat with you.  Also financially there are many more needs associated with running an office, insurances etc and if this is something the Lord would have you help with then please check out the donations page.  We also need prayer with every arena as change happens.

We are so very grateful as we see the hand of God on this, but not just in the building but in the whole bigger picture the Lord is doing in the Spirit, in our nation, in preparation for the move of God that I believe has hit our nation and the need for training and equipping the saints is going to come because of it.

We thank you once again for all your support and encouragement not just today but over the years as we have journeyed together by faith into all that God has.

Last of the Summer Wine

On Wednesday night we had a gathering and the word of the Lord that came through was the "last of the summer wine" and there was this huge sense of shift in the spiritual realm.  That the things that had been, had come to an end.  That it was the ending of one season and that things would be very different in the future. Where God had been growing us, maturing us, teaches us to really love one another in the small and the sense of family that had been built was never going to be the same again.
That there was a time for thankfulness of all that had been in the 'stretching and growing' and a word came saying that season of "Peters' being released was the new things.  Peter whose shadow healed people as he walked, that as a people we would see things happen for us all as we walked with the presence of God overflowing and out of us that we would see lives changed in the marketplaces.

In the last week we have seen the 'open door' that we have been praying, believing and waiting for.   Part of our dream is to see the unity in the body of Christ and in the past week, God has opened the door into five different streams and a coming together in an unexpected way, in part through our building where we normally hold church, suddenly unable to hold church there due to ceiling tiles falling down.  Currently still not fixed and because of guest speakers that had been planned and organised, have had to rearrange things.  But for me it is no small insignificant thing that has happened.  I see God's hand totally on all of this helping to push us 'out of the nest', out of the 'comfort zone' and into the next season of fruitfulness and of abundance.

We have talked and preached since before Christmas about getting ready as a body, being prepared to move and as a people we have been doing what we can in preparation of the shift, in preparation of God saying He is bringing more people, in preparation of the fact that there will be more teaching and training happening, in preparation for the unknown but known in the sense of we knew there was a shift coming.  And I believe the shift is here, it is now.

We have not walked this way before, and therein lies the challenge, the unknown, the 'what are we doing, where are we going questions'?  The sense of discomfort as change occurs but as last year's word was "we don't know what to do but our eyes are on you".  So as a people and in this change that is very exciting and yet challenging, please take time and keep your eyes on the Lord.

In this places things that may have been dormant get stirred up and reawakened, things like pressure or stress, where comfort and knowing what was happening left things unstirred in our lives, as an example, so please keep in that place of surrender to him and his heart and be quick to forgive, to hand things over to him, to remain in peace (speaking to myself there :))

We can trust in the Lord as he leads us places we have not been before.  We need not be afraid because the Holy Spirit goes before us and makes the way.  Thank you Jesus for the last seasons we have been in and help us to move with you in whatever you have ahead for us in this season.

God is modernising the building!

Out with the Old, In with the New.

Currently at the moment Te Rapa Swimming Pools are going through a restructuring and while they are going through it, some of the main pools are shut down unable to be used while other outside pools have been heated up a little, so they can be used while the work is going on.  It will be messy as builder’s work on what needs to happen in order for the pools to be more accessible and useable for the future. But in the end the change will be worth it.

This too I believe is what is happening in the Body of Christ.
There is a restructuring going on.  God is updating the building (which is us, we are His temple), modernising how things need to be done, old solid foundation structures are being taken down and being replaced with more modern structures.  However within the foundation structures of the old, there is gold that was always there but had been lost or forgotten about, that will once again be uncovered and admired.

In this process of change, sometimes we feel a little lost, a little disconnected as we are unsure of what is going on, uncertain of the future and we are trying to find our way back to the familiar of what we know.   There is a call to be patient in the process of change and allow God to go deeper, to unravel us as our dependency has been on what we know and are familiar with and yet things are changing, and they are changing for the better.
Like waiting at a train station at night time in winter to get home and your train has not yet come in and you are waiting for it and there are people going in all directions and the hour feels like it is getting later, but you are still waiting.  Rest assured you will find your way to where the Lord would have you be in time, just be patient.

So I encourage you if you are feeling a little lost and uncertain at the moment, this is just a part of the change that we are in at the moment in the body of Christ as God is wanting to shift and change structures in each one of us, that have been held and a part of us for so long.  Like big concrete walls and in the taking down of those structures in our lives there is gold that has been hidden away unseen for so long that will be once again found.

Matt 5:36
He told them this parable: "No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one.  Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment and the patch from the new will not match the old.  And no one pours new wine into old wineskins.  Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined.  No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, 'The old is better'."

There is an army rising up!

Are you struggling in your family?  Are you struggling with people in the body of Christ?  Keep going in love and you will see the breakthroughs you long for.

Over the past few months the Lord has been showing me some scenes where the enemy has been trying to attack and destroy families, and so I believe it is a time where we need to be alert of the devils schemes and counter attack with the truth and the love of God.   Three areas we ourselves as a ministry are currently contenting for breakthrough in are:
1.  the unity of the body of Christ,
2.  for whole families to come to Christ
3.  for mental health issues to be overcome
.... and so of course the enemy wants to come and try and destroy in whatever way He can within churches, within families, in individuals and so I/we need to be alert to the schemes of the enemy.  Romans 12:21  "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

One vision I share with you I had before Christmas.  I had this vision that was quite horrific as I watched a brother deceive and then murder his brother, I saw evil animals around the house and it was really quite a scene as I watched the murder without remorse, taking place.  As I was trying to take others out of there into a place of safety we were pursued by an army of demonic angels on horses trying to attack and come after us as we ran off the property for our lives.  As we were running I turned and saw that through the blackness of the clouds, the mass of demonic angels on horses coming after us, suddenly there was like a parting of the seas and an army of white angels on white horses came and cleared the path and lifted us up and into safety.

For me, the murder I saw happening can be both in our natural families and I believe also in the church of God, not necessarily in the physical but in the spiritual, in our hearts.

Another vision I saw was that as I shared testimony to other christians, the weakness in them suddenly overtook them and they tried to kill me.  Those weaknesses could be things like jealousy, comparison etc. and when they come up in us we then turn and hate our brother or sister that we are comparing or jealous with instead of rejoicing with those who rejoice.

So from this vision there were two things:
  1. Firstly we cannot say we love God and hate our brother or sister.
  • John 3:14  "We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers.  The one who does not love remains in death.  Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him".
  • 1 John 4:20  "Whoever claims to love God, yet hates a brother or sister is a liar.  For whoever does not love their brother and sister whom they have seen cannot love God whom they have not seen."
  • Matt 10:36  "A man's enemies will be the members of his own household.  Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me..."

  1. There is an army rising up and we do not need to fear as the Lord will lift us up out of the situations that we may find ourselves in.
  • Psalm 18 v3  "I called to the Lord, who is worth of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.....
v9  "He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet.
He mounted the cherubim and flew;he soared on the wings of the wind.
He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him - the dark rain clouds of the sky.
Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advanced, with hailstones and bolts of lightning.
The Lord thundered from heaven, the voice of the Most High resounded.
He shot his arrows and scattered the enemy, with great bots of lightning he routed them.
The valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at your rebuke, Lord at the blast of breath from your nostrils.
He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.
He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.
They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support.
He brought me out into a spacious place, he rescued me because he delighted in me.
v11 " There is an army rising up!
For many of us we are confronted with the enemy in various ways and sometimes that is by those closest to us.  But we need to remember our fight isn't against flesh and blood, but against spiritual principalities.  Our war isn't with the people, its with the powers of darkness.
We need to be a people who are quick to forgive, to release the Love of God into situations, the mercy of God, the grace of God.  Its easy to continue to be hurt and walk away, its harder to forgive those who hurt you and continue to walk in relationship with them.

How do we do this?  Praise is like a weapon for us.  Praise starts to see things from God's perspective.  Praise turns our focus back from the situations that are occurring and back to God where we see our God who is more than able to defend us, to protect us, to justify us, when we cannot do it ourselves.  Praise is where we remember that God rends the heavens and comes to our aid.

So I encourage you to be alert at this time and to use the weapons the Lord has already given us.  To be strong and courageous and to not be afraid or be overcome by evil and to see our families or those people who may hurt us through the Lords eyes.  Hurt people hurt people, so chances are those people who are hurting you are actually just hurt people and need the love and healing that you have to give them.

Isaiah 35:3,5
"Strengthen the feeble hands,
Steady the knees that give way, say to those with fearful hearts.
Be strong, do not fear, your God will come,

"Then the eyes of the blind will be open and the ears of the deaf unstopped
Then the lame will leap like a deer and the mute tongue shout for joy.
Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert
The burning sand will become a pool, the thirsty ground bubbling springs...."

A prayer of blessing from me to you

I was reading this this morning and felt like it was a blessing to pray over people so here goes - consider it a prayer from me to you - May you be blessed!
Psalm 20
May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.
May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings.
May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.
Now this I know.
The Lord gives victory to his anointed.
He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall,
but we rise up and stand firm.
Lord, give victory to the king!
Answer us when we call!

A word in season

I was in my garden the other day cleaning up after the storm that came through and my persimmon tree had lost many of its buds leaving less on the tree.   I felt the Lord say to me that the fruit that fell off needed to go as it was too burdensome, too heavy and the tree would not have coped if all had stayed on the tree.
The buds that were left was just the right amount in order for those that were left to be fully developed and bear good healthy fruit.

If you have been going through some storms lately you are not alone.  The storms challenge and shift things in a way that may leave you questioning what is going on, but there are things in our lives that need to go for our benefit.   The storms reveal our foundations, what we are holding onto and where our hope lies.  The storms remind us of our first love and the call to return to our first love - that being Jesus.  Rev 2:5

I believe the Lord is removing those things in our lives that are or will be a burden, those things that weigh us down and actually don't benefit us in the long run.  His yoke is easy, His burden light and the Lord would say to you   "Let me take these things from you.  Don't hold on to them, they will weigh you down in this new season I have for you that is going to be highly fruitful.  I have much to show you and much to share with you, but if you continue to grieve for the loss, you will miss out on the exciting new things I have for you."

May you be blessed and fruitful in this new season the Lord has for you.
