Rise up oh mighty warrior!

Over the past week we have been up the Far North and while there the Lord gave me a dream that I want to share.  In it I saw people resting in their beds and others watching television and it was becoming night time but there was this recognition that an invading army was going to come and invade during the night but within the people there was a sense of hopelessness, acceptance, apathy and fear toward what was going to happen.  Initially I got in the bed alongside other people and then I stopped and said, hold on a minute and got up and rallied them with the truth and I saw hope rise and the sense of being overcome go as they stepped up into who they were called to be and not just accept what was going to happen.

If we know something is going to attack us we can become very fearful toward it.  We can often just accept what is going to come,  but the Lord would say - No, rise up and be the overcomer that he has called you to be.  Rise up not in your own strength, but in the Lords.  Rise up in His perfect love which casts out all fear.  Rise up in the word of God that says that no weapon formed against you will prosper.  Rise up in the word that says if God can feed and clothe the birds of the air, are you not more valuable than they, Matt 6:26.  Rise up knowing that ultimately Christ has overcome the enemy and that the outcome is victory - even if we don't see it ourselves in our lifetime but believe.  Rise up and be the Davids of this generation and slay the Goliaths and not be trembling in our boots because we are being threatened in whatever modern way giant there is, but stand up with whatever is in your hand and slay the enemy that is all words and no power because our God is greater and who dare defy the Living King.

Hence why it is so important to know the word of God.  If we go to war without knowing the word of God we are slinging a sword around without being effective.  I watched the Voyage of the Dawn Treader the other day and there is a part in it when Eustace is fighting with the mouse but doesn't know how to use a sword and he is all over the place but after a bit of training he was able to use it effectively.  Initially with the word we don't know how to use it and we need to allow ourselves to be tested and trained in order to use the weapon of our warfare, which is the word of God, and use it effectively seeing strongholds overcome that might have once overcome us.   There is power in the word.  And so we would encourage you if you don't know much of the word of God, now is a time to step out in faith and allow God to teach and train you in it.  To know how to effectively use the weapons that tear down the strongholds and the giants that would want to come at you and overcome you, but for us to rise up and the children of God and be the overcomers, the victorious in Christ and we can only do that if we know the word of God which is our strength and answer in all situations we may come across.

If you are wanting direction on how to start getting into the word then feel free to give us a call (07 8389009) and we can direct you to what may work best for you.  Many blessings.

Ponderings today 16 Dec

Whilst we may not agree with everything that is preached from the pulpit, there is always something that we can learn either about the Lord or about ourselves and our responses to it. Lets not be a people to whom are easily offended and move on without learning what it is that the Lord would have us learn in the different situations.  I read a wonderful scripture this morning that really encouraged me as one who often feels arrows in the back in the spirit from peoples jud gements towards me, which God really spoke to me about and hope that it would encourage you too if you feel this way. As it is not us who receive the arrows from people but the Lord (v4) But also reminds me not to be a person that speaks about others behind their back as words are powerful and the tongue either brings life or death. And it is so easily done without often thinking about it. And as easily as I feel arrows, others would feel arrows from me.  Lord forgive us our sin as we forgive others theirs. ...

"A man's enemies will be the members of his own household" Matt 10:36

Recently we have been pondering how to deal with situations in our family that don't line up with the word. What action do we need to take?  Are we being too harsh?  Do we accept the behaviour or be considered by those around us as "too radical" or "too black and white"?  "Where is grace in all of this? How do we love the sinner but hate the sin?  What about forgiveness?  What is the role of discipline?   What makes that sin any worse than lying?  What is true love?  And there are a lot more questions going through the mind in how to work through this and know God's will and desire for the situation and the person. And firstly to say we have not come to any conclusions and are growing and learning day by day in this but I want to throw it out there. In Matt 10:34-39 says "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth.  I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.  For I have come to turn "a man against his father, ...

Obedience and Commitment are big things in Gods Kingdom

Reading in Acts 7 this morning the story through Stephen of Abraham being told by God to " Leave your country and your people and go the the land I will show you"   So he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. After the death of his father, God sent him to this land where you are now living.  He gave him no inheritance here, not even a foot of ground.  But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child." As I reflected on this and the journey of Abraham stepping out in faith into a land that he received no inheritance in but a promise of what was to come for his descendants of which we live in the fruit of that, I thought of todays generations in which often is only doing things that we want to do or that will benefit us personally as we live for 'today' not worrying about tomorrow.  A sense of if it feels good then do it, if it doesn't then we will move on -  perhap...

Whats in the garage?

The garage, a place of storage, a place of dealing with things later when time allows, a place often  of mess.  That's whats in our garage anyway. I woke up out of my sleep last night with this 'there's something in the garage'.  So at midnight I woke up Jim and got him out checking out the garage and I found the cars had been left unlocked outside with the windows down, the water heater in the prayer room (one of our garages) was still on from the prayer time that morning, milk on the bench and so thankful that I was woken to check things out. But after this I then had another dream and in this dream we were quests at someone's home invited for dinner but in this home after dinner the host was so concerned about her home and the particular way her curtain was hung it was really fascinating.  She was so wrapped up in her house and how things should be done that she failed to notice her husband sitting on the chair waiting to talk to her and in the end he got up ...

"I am ruined for the ordinary"

“I am ruined for the ordinary” A statement that can possibly be to some, come from a place of judgement, or it can be from a place of there is more in the Kingdom of God that I am yet to experience or understand, revelation that I have tasted of something that actually shows me that I have not tasted of anything yet.  A place where there is such a contentment and joy in what I have seen and longed to see and yet a revelation that there is way more "beyond what I think, ask and imagine" (Eph 3:20) and one that spurs me on to seek and discover all the fullness that could be ours in the Kingdom of God. When we as Christians see other Christians going places or experiencing things that we don’t understand or perhaps we have not yet moved in, we can either become jealous of that person and judge and bring them down to our level, exclude them from our lives or we can choose to be excited by what is happening and be encouraged and spurred on in the Lord for the more than ca...

Make way for the new development

This morning I had a dream and in this dream I saw Jim & I were helping clear out the rubble and things left in houses that were being demolished.  Whole rows of houses were being demolished and we were asked to come and help clear the area before new things went in.  But while helping shift stuff (although a bit reluctantly as I am not a fan of hard physical work) we were blessed to be able to take the pickings of what was left and I found myself picking up the antique ornaments., the treasures.   There was also a big white fridge that actually was a safe that couldn’t be opened or moved, it was stuck, solid, so wedged in nothing was going to move it. I realise in processing this, this is actually the call the Lord has on Jim & I,  we are called to shift stuff in the spirit,  in peoples lives in order for the new to come in and in seeing the big fridge which was actually a safe, it made me think of Matt 6.  The fridge often re...
