Psalm 18:43 You have delivered me from the strivings of the people.

Dear friends - hello,

We are learning more and more how the African church here functions.  Really good to understand.  A word the Lord gave me earlier in the week was from Psalm 18:43 "You have delivered me from the strivings of the people".   We have realised in what we are seeing how far the Lord has brought us in learning about His Grace and His love that it is not in what we can do, or how much we pray that matters to Him, but our heart toward Him and our resting and trusting in Him.  We can pray all we like, we can do all the godly things, serve people, look good on the outside but our hearts can so much be so far from him it is not funny.  We can be the evangelist, the prophet, the pastor, the whatever, but unless we have that relationship with the Lord, we have absolutely nothing.  We can bring people to the Lord, get commitments from people that bring in numbers to Christ, but will that fruit last as their hearts have not even understood the heart of God toward them.  We are seeing so much how much the spiritual fear of the demonic world actually pushes people to Christ rather than the understanding of His love for people.   There is so much that we are thinking about and the Lord is wanting us to teach on and hence why he is pushing us to spend time at the moment in the dreams he is giving to write sermons so believe he must have a use for them in the future.

Another topic that I am processing is "Fear or Faith".  I have been given some words that have brought a fear of going into the future and what might happen, but I am learning to discern more and more about what is of God and what is of man.  God is one who speaks faith into things, not fear - he brings peace not doubt and so I know the Lord is giving us so much to preach on when returning to New Zealand.   So I want to encourage you that if somebody speaks something over your life that doesn't bring faith then put it to the side.  It may happen what was spoken, but with God there is always a hope and a future and something to step into, not away from, he doesn't give a sense of 'foreboding' and I actually think that is something here over this nation.  They have only had trouble for a long time and hence fear what may be ahead, very uncertain times here.  We were blessed the other day when we went out to the village and a lady came and spoke truth and faith into us that it pushed us out of holding back and realised something we had picked up along the way but it was broken when she spoke faith into us and so we speak faith into you -   STEP UP AND STEP IN PEOPLE BY FAITH INTO WHAT THE LORD HAS PUT ON YOUR HEARTS!!!  Not holding back but by taking it by force as it says in Matt 11:12 "And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has suffered violence and the violent take it by force"

On a practical detail level -

This past week has seen me at a womens bible study.  Very interesting and I hope to join them again this coming week.   Jim & I were invited out to join a medical team that go out to the bush and teach them basic health but also share the gospel which became our turn to minister and see the tangible presence of God released which they commented on as they had not seen it happen out there before, so that was cool, hopefully we will join them again this coming week but we will see.   We were invited last night to a church service which was classed as a 'prophetic deliverance service' which Jim and I received a prophetic word which was great confirming our call to preach to the nations and what the Lord has ahead which confirmed other words people had given us.  And mainly the Lord is putting words into our heart to preach so we are feeling the push to sit down and write some sermons.   We still have our colds which we want to see a breakthrough in but I think it is just the way the Lord is telling us to rest and write.  So on that note, need to go and do this.  Love to all!

Obedience and Commitment are big things in Gods Kingdom

Reading in Acts 7 this morning the story through Stephen of Abraham being told by God to " Leave your country and your people and go the the land I will show you"   So he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. After the death of his father, God sent him to this land where you are now living.  He gave him no inheritance here, not even a foot of ground.  But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child." As I reflected on this and the journey of Abraham stepping out in faith into a land that he received no inheritance in but a promise of what was to come for his descendants of which we live in the fruit of that, I thought of todays generations in which often is only doing things that we want to do or that will benefit us personally as we live for 'today' not worrying about tomorrow.  A sense of if it feels good then do it, if it doesn't then we will move on -  perhap...

"I am ruined for the ordinary"

“I am ruined for the ordinary” A statement that can possibly be to some, come from a place of judgement, or it can be from a place of there is more in the Kingdom of God that I am yet to experience or understand, revelation that I have tasted of something that actually shows me that I have not tasted of anything yet.  A place where there is such a contentment and joy in what I have seen and longed to see and yet a revelation that there is way more "beyond what I think, ask and imagine" (Eph 3:20) and one that spurs me on to seek and discover all the fullness that could be ours in the Kingdom of God. When we as Christians see other Christians going places or experiencing things that we don’t understand or perhaps we have not yet moved in, we can either become jealous of that person and judge and bring them down to our level, exclude them from our lives or we can choose to be excited by what is happening and be encouraged and spurred on in the Lord for the more than ca...

"A man's enemies will be the members of his own household" Matt 10:36

Recently we have been pondering how to deal with situations in our family that don't line up with the word. What action do we need to take?  Are we being too harsh?  Do we accept the behaviour or be considered by those around us as "too radical" or "too black and white"?  "Where is grace in all of this? How do we love the sinner but hate the sin?  What about forgiveness?  What is the role of discipline?   What makes that sin any worse than lying?  What is true love?  And there are a lot more questions going through the mind in how to work through this and know God's will and desire for the situation and the person. And firstly to say we have not come to any conclusions and are growing and learning day by day in this but I want to throw it out there. In Matt 10:34-39 says "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth.  I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.  For I have come to turn "a man against his father, ...

Make way for the new development

This morning I had a dream and in this dream I saw Jim & I were helping clear out the rubble and things left in houses that were being demolished.  Whole rows of houses were being demolished and we were asked to come and help clear the area before new things went in.  But while helping shift stuff (although a bit reluctantly as I am not a fan of hard physical work) we were blessed to be able to take the pickings of what was left and I found myself picking up the antique ornaments., the treasures.   There was also a big white fridge that actually was a safe that couldn’t be opened or moved, it was stuck, solid, so wedged in nothing was going to move it. I realise in processing this, this is actually the call the Lord has on Jim & I,  we are called to shift stuff in the spirit,  in peoples lives in order for the new to come in and in seeing the big fridge which was actually a safe, it made me think of Matt 6.  The fridge often re...

Whats in the garage?

The garage, a place of storage, a place of dealing with things later when time allows, a place often  of mess.  That's whats in our garage anyway. I woke up out of my sleep last night with this 'there's something in the garage'.  So at midnight I woke up Jim and got him out checking out the garage and I found the cars had been left unlocked outside with the windows down, the water heater in the prayer room (one of our garages) was still on from the prayer time that morning, milk on the bench and so thankful that I was woken to check things out. But after this I then had another dream and in this dream we were quests at someone's home invited for dinner but in this home after dinner the host was so concerned about her home and the particular way her curtain was hung it was really fascinating.  She was so wrapped up in her house and how things should be done that she failed to notice her husband sitting on the chair waiting to talk to her and in the end he got up ...

What do Kingdom finances look like?

I was asked by someone the other day what Kingdom finances looked like and I realised that this is an area that needs some discussion. This is my opinion of what Kingdom finances look like according to what the Lord has taught me over the years and to scriptures I have been shown, but I am not the be all and end all to thinking, so it is something you might want to check out for yourselves. The way of the world is to store up riches, to save for a rainy day, to have enough to protect themselves should something happen, that I have earned this and it is mine and therefore I can do what I want with it. The way of the Kingdom is a way of giving to the poor, giving to God's people in need and practicing hospitality, of not worrying about tomorrow, of trusting God for the future and His provision in that time of need when it arises, of everything is His (God's). I believe that if you see a need in front of you and you have something in which can help with that need, whatever it is,...
