Year after year

I was led this morning to the book of 1 Samuel and the first thing that jumped out at me was the phrase "year after year".

How many of us are like this. We have so much and yet we are still crying out to the Lord for things that have not happened or come to pass yet. And we look at others and see what they have and compare and it causes us to not see the love that is poured out to us.

Hannah's husband would say to her "Hannah, why are you weeping? ... Why are you downhearted? Don't I mean more to you than ten sons?

The Lord would say this morning. Am I not enough?. See my love poured out to you. See what I have given you. Come to me, find your peace and your joy in me, not in what you have or don't have, what is or isn't done yet, but in me alone. Those 'things' don't fulfil you but come to me and find rest for your soul. I will satisfy you and give you rest and peace for your soul.

Psalm 62 Truly my soul finds rest in God

my salvation comes from him

Truly he is my rock and my salvation

he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

v5 Yes soul, find rest in God,

my hope comes from him.

Truly he is my rock and my salvation

he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.

My salvation and my honour depend on God,

he is my might rock, my refuge.

Trust in him at all times, you people,

pour out your hearts to him,

for God is our refuge...

v11 One thing God has spoken,

two things I have heard;

"Power belongs to you, God

and with you, Lord, is unfailing love"

and, "You reward everyone

according to what they have done."

May you come to him and find 'rest' in your soul today as you recognise and see His unfailing love for you, that you are not forgotten, that you are special, that you are his Beloved Bride.

A challenge from the Book of Haggai

“Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in paneled houses while this house remains a ruin?” This is the word that popped up to me this morning as I sat down and felt I needed to share it here. Haggai is a wonderful book that reminds us of the right priorities in life, it is only a couple of pages long so take the time to read it in one sitting. I quote from the NIV application study bible; “Pressures, demands, expectations, and tasks push in from all sides and assault our schedules. Do! Be There! Finish that! Call them! It seems as though everyone wants something from us – family, friends, employer, school, church, clubs. Soon there is little left to give, as we run out of energy and time. Don't be deceived - be careful who you are following

I had this dream the other day where I saw a whole bunch of my friends following after a lady who was popular and well known and they were going to hear her but as they got in her possession she was evil and was out to kill them, she was deliberately deceiving them. I found myself in this dream warning the people not to follow her and so now I find myself warning people about being deceived and not to follow after people. We are not to follow after people, we are to follow after God and Jesus Christ. We are not to look to people for what they can give us but we are to look to God. If we look to God and read his word then it is harder to become deceived because the word of God is truth and it reveals truth as we read it and we find the areas of error that may be coming in. I find myself sometimes heading down a certain direction and becoming a little unbalanced in my theology (my beliefs) until I read the word again which brings me back in line ...

Latest Prayer Update

Since writing last – We continue to pray about the tent meeting but the Lord seems to continue to have that on hold as I believe he has another way of doing the same thing but in a new way where the whole body will be used and so we wait until all the pieces come together. Please be patient with us in this. Africa – We continue to have words given to us about Africa and so the Lord is definitely talking about Africa but he seems to be widening the vision with it all, not just Malawi. It seems more like at this stage visiting a number of African Countries wherever the Lord leads, empowering people – a bit like the last China trip but for longer and more countries and so too we wait for all the pieces to fit together. He has said to have our bags packed ready to go at a moments notice and so we have done that by faith, there are just a few other things that need to come together to make this possible. Unfortunately we have just heard that our guest scheduled for the 14th of August has just had to change the date of his visit due to not being able to get a visa into the country. The date now is: 28 August 2013 7pm Puketaha Hall

Just saying....

Yesterday when praying I got the picture of Jesus being born in a stable and the simplicity of that. I saw how the three wise men were led by a star and that they were willing to follow that star no matter how far it took them or the cost involved, so as to find the promised Messiah. It made me think how complex our church services are, how organised, how planned, how much advertising it takes etc etc. And I started to laugh as I realised how far we have gone from the simplicity of the stable, from the simplicity of the leading of the star, from the cost and the journey it took made by the wise men in pursuing and finding the promised Messiah. How Jesus, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords was not seen by the religious leaders of the time because he did not come as they expected as a King. Instead He came opposite to the worldly thinking of the King. He came in humility, born in a stable, available and accessible for the ordinary person. Yet He was and...
