Words are powerful weapons

The Lord has been recently challenging me on some of the words I speak (even in the sharing of testimony) and the motives of the heart that underline those words that come out from my mouth. Words are powerful things and if we allow the Lord to reveal what is underneath some of our words, then we realise what is actually at the root or at the heart of the words we speak that may need healing or truth spoken into such things.

With our tongue comes either blessing or cursing.

With our tongue the overflow of the heart speaks (Matt 12:34)

With our tongue we can turn a whole ship, or set a spark which creates a huge fire that sets the whole course of our life (James 3:5)

With our tongue we praise our Lord and Father and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness (James 3:19)

Prov 19:16 “How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver.”

For example:

are the words I am speaking lifting me up and putting others down? (sarcasm and gossip does that).
or making me look good in other peoples eyes?
or judging or criticising another?
am I speaking with anger and if so why?
or coming from a heart that is harbouring hurt, rejection or fear?
are the words I am speaking coming from unbelief and doubt and not bringing faith and hope into a situation?

It's a hard challenge to accept and receive correction on in the Lord, but when we do, we will receive not only forgiveness, but a blessing and our lives will take a different course and bring life and blessing, not only to ourselves, but to all those around us. People will want to come to you because you bring life and not death, as it is in the power of the tongue.

Pro 16:12 “Kings take pleasure in honest lips, they value a man who speaks the truth”.

Prov 19:14

“May the words of my mouth

and the meditation of my heart

be pleasing in your sight O Lord,

My Rock and My Redeemer.”

Lord I thank you that you reveal truth that sets me free.

Thank you that you show us through our words what actually is in our heart if we allow you to examine the motives of our heart.

Lord bring healing to those places of our hearts that need your touch, your forgiveness and help us to be a people that our words promote life, that people are drawn to us because of the words we speak.

Thank you Jesus that you are turning everything for good for those who love you and are called according to your purpose, that you redeem and restore what has been lost and turn it for your glory and that we are being transformed by the renewing of our minds day by day and that there is no condemnation in you. Thank you Jesus.

The rats where running....

Last night I saw this picture where we went into this room to collect stuff with lots of other people and all these rats ran away as we came in and the stuff in the room was just all bits of rubbish now and the word that came to me was Matt 6:19 "Don't store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." It is so easy to think you are storing up treasure in heaven but the reality is that if you are wanting praise from man in any way then you are actually receiving your inheritance now. When you work for the Lord the things done in secret I believe, is what is stored up in heavenly places awaiting a time of release and when that release comes is unto the Lord, it may be on the earth while you are alive but it may also be later....

Does your boat have life jackets?

Do you go out fishing on a boat without a life jacket? Do you go out on the water unprepared for what may happen? And yet for many Christians this is the state of their Christian walk, they are not prepared for what may come and so when things go wrong they have not spent the time in the word of God, which teaches them truth so that when the enemy comes in like a flood and overwhelms them, they have no where to go except down, because the belt of Truth is like our safety be lt that holds us up when the flood threatens to overwhelm us. Truth is the word of God, truth sets us free, truth brings us life and helps us discern what is of God and what is not of God. A word the Lord was bringing last night is to be prepared and so I encourage you to take the time, set time apart, go in and shut the door to distractions, shut the door to the words the enemy would try and bring, shut the door to discouragement or whatever may be coming that is trying to take your eye, the phone, Facebook, tv...

Continuing on in Luke - Chapter 22:40 "Pray that you will not fall into temptation"

A couple of things that struck me this morning from Luke. Jesus says to his disciples in 22:40 "Pray that you will not fall into temptation" , and then a few verses later while praying on the Mount of Olives Jesus, 'prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground'. (22:44) His prayer was obviously quite intense and I thought how much of my prayer is so intense that my praying produces sweat? But the prayer he said to the disciples was 'pray that you will not fall into temptation'. And then again in verses 46 "Why are you sleeping?" he asked them. "Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation." This call to pray that we don't fall into temptation I believe is so needed. It is when we pray that we realise the different areas that we have fallen into temptation in such seemingly little things, but over time they become big things. The fires too hot!

Sometimes the things we go through we think aren't God, and whether they are or not God, God uses everything for our good, (if we allow it). And often we are tempted to walk out or walk away from God and His people in the process when things become too tough. We don't know how to handle it, we think all sorts of things that don't line up with the bible, with truth, we question, we doubt, we blame, whatever it is that is being challenged in our life when it becomes too hard, we are often tempted to quit or to walk away from the situation/s that is/are causing pain. I know I have several times spat the dummy so to speak, in my marriage, in my church, with my daughter, in relationships, when I have wanted to quit and walk away. But thankfully the Lord holds me, I have my bad day and then something will come that will encourage me to keep going. Soften my heart Lord....I need a miracle.

Those in Egypt who were taken and led out of slavery with Moses and crossed the Red Sea saw the miracles of God, they saw their God working in mighty ways before their very eyes and yet not long from where they saw these things take place, they come into quarrelling and times of testing and in this place they forget the miracles, they forget the bigness of their God and all he can do and has done and they harden their hearts. Many of us through times of testing, through trials, through believing for things and not yet seeing it happen, find ourselves unintentionally hardening our heart to what we have seen or know that our God can do. We stop moving in faith in which we first did at the beginning in our relationship with the Lord and we end up living along like all those around us and accepting our states in life and no longer step out in faith on the bigger things in which the Lord has called us to.
