It’s a new season – time for a pruning back to allow the new growth to come.

I believe we are in a time where the Lord is wanting to change mindsets, to remove some of the coverings that have been laid on the original foundations, that being Christ alone, and to replace with new ways of thinking that lead us to complete freedom in Christ and the reason why he died.  (Gal 5:1  “It is for freedom that Christ has set you free”).

I believe He is wanting to remove the dead wood or branches in our lives that are not bearing fruit, that he is wanting us to leave behind some things in our lives so that we can step into the new, to allow the new growth to come, the new things that he has for us.  John 15:1-2  “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  (The whole of John  15 is amazing to read and bring context so if you have time give it a read)

While we were in Picton this is very much what the Lord was saying to the people there, but I believe it is what the Lord is doing with quite a number of us.

Some of the things to be left behind were past hurts, hurts from the church, scars that people have received at the hand of their brothers in Christ, old ways of thinking, “I’ve been there and done that”.  Whatever it is, the Lord is wanting us to let go of things and allow the new growth that he would bring, to come.

The other word that was coming is that we are to walk as children of the light.
In 1 John 1:5 it is “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.  If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”

I was reminded of a picture I had whilst in China and I was dancing in the fields with flowers all around and quite happy dancing there, but just a little further over it was dark and I didn’t want to dance there, I was afraid.  I was quite happy dancing in the safe place but where it was dark I didn’t want to go.
But I knew in that picture that the Lord wanted to teach me and to lead me to dance in the dark – knowing that we are to be the light in the darkness, not just dancing in the light.
While sitting in Picton looking over the beautiful scenery I saw a rabbit come out from behind some bushes, put his ears up and listen for danger.  When he saw/heard that it was safe, he ventured out and I believe this was a picture that the Lord was showing me, that we are a bit like rabbits – we will come out on the grass when it is safe, but the moment it becomes a little noisy or scary we will take off back to the bushes or the safe place in our lives.

And that too I believe is what he is wanting to teach us in, retrain our mindsets and be willing to learn how to dance in the darkness.  To be the people of God who God has called us each to be, not just in the safe places – in the church, with our friends, but in the scary places – to those who perhaps may have something against us, in our workplaces, in those places that are out of our comfort zone.
For each one of us is to be the light in the darkness.  We are called to be the city on a hill, we are called not to hide our light under a bushel and so I believe the Lord is wanting to teach us how to dance in the dark knowing that in Him we are hidden under the shelter of his wing and that in Him no harm can befall us that is outside of his will, to come into a place of trust in the Lord where no matter what man may say or do to us, we can still dance in the dark and be the children of the light that we are called to be.

So let me encourage you to allow God to cut back some of the past hurts, some of the things that have held us dancing in the safe places, and to allow the new growth that he would do in each one of us, no matter where we are at, to allow the new ways of thinking to be brought, or new ways of seeing things, so that we can be the light in the darkness.

Bless you all!  With love - Sarah

6 legged sheep???

In the weekend I saw a vision of a sheep that had six legs. And what I believe the Lord is saying, there are many sheep, (followers of Christ), but they are trusting in their own strength and not in mine.  When we trust in our own strength and abilities we forfeit the grace that can be ours, the enabling that comes from stepping out in faith in the impossible, the testimonies that give God the glory rather than the expectation of what should be because we have put our hand to  something.  God is the God of the impossible and in order for the miracles, the testimonies, we need to be a people that step out in what we can't do and allow God to come in and do the impossible.   That may simply be asking the Lord to help you to forgive someone that has hurt you so much, to getting on a plane with no finances because the Lord has asked you to, to continue to stay in a job/church/marriage/relationship you don't want to because that is where God has placed you, to praying for a

Sleeping while driving?

How many of you have ever driven a car and you become so sleepy that you either need to pull over and sleep or you will crash or you continue to drive only to find yourself swerving to avoid a car that comes upon you or even worse find yourself in a crash. The other day I had a vision where I was preaching and the whole back row in the gathering of men were asleep while I was preaching.   And today I had another vision of driving a car while so sleepy that it was going to cause an accident. This is what is like for many in our spiritual walk in the Lord, we are going around in our lives spiritually asleep and if we continue to do so will have a serious crash at some point not only causing damage to yourself but to other people who you may not even know.  Men particularly I challenge you to take a look at your lives to see whether you are hearing from the Lord, whether you are responding truthfully to the Holy Spirit and living as He would ask you to live or whether

Obedience and Commitment are big things in Gods Kingdom

Reading in Acts 7 this morning the story through Stephen of Abraham being told by God to " Leave your country and your people and go the the land I will show you"   So he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. After the death of his father, God sent him to this land where you are now living.  He gave him no inheritance here, not even a foot of ground.  But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child." As I reflected on this and the journey of Abraham stepping out in faith into a land that he received no inheritance in but a promise of what was to come for his descendants of which we live in the fruit of that, I thought of todays generations in which often is only doing things that we want to do or that will benefit us personally as we live for 'today' not worrying about tomorrow.  A sense of if it feels good then do it, if it doesn't then we will move on -  perhap

Prophetic pictures: Burnt Flesh, Big Fish, Expansion, Signs and Wonders

A couple of weeks ago I have had several visions which I believe is a prophetic picture of what God is currently doing and what He is about to do.   Fi rstly, I saw ahead on the highway a huge explosion with black smoke billowing up and as I came to it I saw people had been burnt and I could smell the smell of burnt flesh.   Our God is consuming fire (Heb 12:29).  His love is in the fire.   Something the Lord has been talking to us about is the fall of the acts of the flesh, the strength of man.  This vision I saw was a representation that of the fire of Gods love is coming and going to burn away the things of the flesh, the things that were not of the Lo rd, the things that may have been good in their time but today is a new day.   Perhaps the familiar things we are so used to that we don't even know it's there.  The way we might speak, the way we might act, the way we might respond that are familiar with us but aren't necessarily of the Kingdom nature we have in Christ.

Bus crash in Botswana - Rejoice in the Lord always.

Well we had an interesting introduction to Botswana - yes a bus crash.  It was amazing and most probably the worst accident I have been in to this day (but not bad I am sure to some of you out there) but thankfully the Lord looked after us and protected us. The front tyre of the bus blew out travelling about 120ks per hour and the bus tipped from side to side as it careered off the road into the bus.  How it never hit cars and no one was killed we will never know apart from the protection of the Lord.  We were flown all over the place but thankfully only came out with a few cuts and bruises.  It was literally a miracle that we didn't roll.  One girl was thrown out of the bus in a serious condition, others hurt in various ways but it could have been a whole lot worse.  The Lord gave us peace and we went about praying for people and was blessed especially by one lady who felt the fire of God healing her so much so that she was laughing and crying all at the same time.  Two days ear

Do you feel small and insignificant today? Well be encouraged!

Reading Psalm 68 and verses 24-27 struck me ……Verse 27 “There is the little tribe of Benjamin, leading them…. What struck me this morning in the great assembly of Israel, in the great congregation, the Little tribe of Benjamin led them.   It hit me how it was a little tribe that led the great congregation. Straight away I got other pictures that came to mind, that of a small tug boat that leads a huge ship safely into harbour, and of the story of the Lion and Mouse where the lion was caught in ropes but the mouse ate the lions ropes around him, setting him free. “God chose the weak things of the world to shame the wise” You may feel you are little, you may feel you are small and what effect could you have, but like that of Gideon with only a small number of warriors, came up again defeated thousands in the Lord. Like David in the eyes of Goliath and yet David overcame Goliath.  Like yeast in a loaf of bread and how it infiltrates everything, so too can the little thi
